Rev. David A. YunkerBio:Rev. David A. Yunker has served rural United Methodist congregations since September of 2001 providing full time pastoral care to the communities of Ladonia, Pecan Gap, Princeton, Becker, and Kemp Texas. Membership of these congregations has ranged from 50 members to 200 members; and the average age of the congregants has ranged from 60 in one location to mid 40’s in others. In addition to normal pastoral care activities David has been involved in organization of choirs for small congregations, small group bible studies including Disciple Bible Study, community youth organizations, and small Confirmation classes. He has conducted ecumenical worship services for National Day of Prayer and a first year remembrance service for 911, as well as supporting ecumenical revivals, Bible studies and occasional 5th Sunday or holiday dinners. During this period David has led churches to new growth both youth and adult, and conducted a Sidewalk Sunday School, reaching out to the community. Administratively he has led one congregation through the implementation of capital improvements totaling $20,000 over a three year period, helped and lead administrative efforts to maintain a positive cash flow and increase for church finance, and promoted giving for over and above needs. As a part of community service David has been on the board of a 5013c ecumenical organization providing for community needs with a food bank, financial assistance and medical assistance, served the Dallas, Denton, and North East Texas Emmaus Communities, is an active board member of the local Kiwanis Club, and is actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America. Rev. Yunker has been a member of the Ecumenical Ministry Team serving the North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, and served on the District Board of Trustees Prior to entering ministry, Rev Yunker worked in the business sector for twenty plus years, employed as an engineer. Most of David’s career was working in Military Electronics and the Electronic Intelligence field, with a short time spent in consumer electronics. David was a senior level engineer with broad interdisciplinary experience in the development of communications systems, signal analysis systems, and radar systems, and his background included Project/Program Management, and Engineering Management, as well as system definition and development.
Rev. Yunker is married to Beverley, and they celebrate over 40 years of marriage. Beverley has been
working as a Librarian for Mesquite North Branch Library for over 10 years. Prior to that, she worked
as a Librarian for Plano libraries, and with the library at Rockwall. Dave and Bev have two sons who
are Eagle Scouts. Sean, the oldest, lives in Seattle, WA, and works as a contractor doing fine finish
and eclectic carpentry. His company is Rootcraft.com. He also works
for Tree House Workshop.com creating homes in trees. Kristopher lives in Santa Cruz, CA and is a Jazz
musician playing the Hammond organ, piano, and synthesizers. His groups include On The Spot Trio, and
